Abstract

906,745. Winding yarn. RATTI S.p.A., MICHELE. Aug. 24, 1960 [Sept. 1, 1959], No. 29194/60. Class 120 (2). In bobbin winding apparatus in which the bobbin is supported in a cradle pivoted eccentrically of the bobbin axis in a stationary frame and driven by contact with a driving roller, the movement of the cradle about its axis is restrained by frictional means disposed between the cradle and the frame and adjacent the bobbin axis. As shown, the bobbin cradle has, mounted on its shaft 5, resilient arms 1, 2 which carry resilient friction shoes 3 urged against braking surfaces 12 formed on the fixed frame. The bobbin spindle is mounted in recesses 11 in the shoes 3 and as the bobbin grows against a fixed driving roller (not shown) the cradle rises, the movement being damped by the action of the shoes 3 against the braking surfaces 12 which may be arranged to converge so that the damping effect increases with package growth. Instead of making shoes 3 of resilient material, the surfaces 12 may be faced with such material.
