Abstract

897,882. Preventing pattern winding. LEESONA HOLT Ltd. July 29, 1960 [Aug. 1, 1959], No. 26477/59. Class 120(2) In drum winding or quick traverse machines pattern winding is prevented by arranging that the rotating package P is intermittently retarded by direct application of retarding means 19 to the package surface. The braking member 19 is pivotably mounted by means of a bracket having arms 10, 11, 14, 15 about a point 17 on the drum frame 18. The arm 11 is connected via a spring 23 and rod 20 to an arm on an oscillating shaft 24 and is oscillated thereby at a constant frequency, e.g. 50 times/sec., so as to force brake 19 into intermittent contact with the package. The size of each braking impulse can be selected by adjusting the locknuts 22. Stops 25 are provided to limit the movement of the arm 11.
