Abstract

[Class 133] [Also in Group XXXI and XXXII] In a cover device in which a waterproof cover 11 is wound on a spring loaded roller 13 pivotally mounted in a container 23, the container is formed with an end cap 26 that is rotatable relatively to it and is directly or indirectly connected to a spring 19 in such a manner that the spring tension can be adjusted by rotation of the end cap, means being provided for securing the end cap against rotation of the spring, the roller 13 being freely mounted on a spindle 18 by means of bushes 16 and 17 and the spring 19 connected at one end 20 to the bush 16 and at the other end 21 to the spindle 18. Portions of the periphery of the end cap 26 are twined inwardly to form a pair of hooks 34 engaging the edges of a slot 27 to secure the cap against rotation. The spindle 18 is threaded at one end and can be moved axially of the container so as to move the hooks 34 out of engagement with the slot 27 so that the cap can rotate. A pin 35 limits the axial movement of the spindle in the container. The spindle 18 has a pair of opposed flat surfaces 31 passing through a correspondingly shaped hole in the cap 26 so that the spindle 18 rotates with the cap. The free end of the cover 11 is formed as a pocket 36 which may be slipped over the nose of the saddle. A stop member 37 is provided to prevent the cover being drawn into the container. A bracket 39 extends from the container and is attached to the cycle frame adjacent the saddle.
