Abstract

761,962. Coiler mechanisms for slivers. IDEAL INDUSTRIES, Inc. Dec. 23, 1954 [April 26, 1954], No. 37150/54. Classes 120 (2) and 120 (3). A coiler head is rotatably supported out of frictional contact with a coiler plate by a spider resiliently mounted on the plate and extending upwardly to support the coiler head in anti-friction bearings. Drive from a shaft 29 is transmitted to a gear 35 integral with or fixed to a base 36 from which a shaft 60 rises to a hub portion 61 to which an inner ball race 61 is secured. An outer ball race 55 is mounted in a spider 52 formed with legs 51 secured to the coiler plate 30 by screws 50. A spring 53 is disposed between the head of each screw 50 and the end of each spider leg 51 so that when a can has been filled with sliver the base 36 may be pressed upwardly to operate a stop motion which is operable both on the filling of the can and on failure of an end.
