APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING ADDITIONAL VDRAFT 1N DRAWING FRAMES Filed Oct. 25, 1957 2 Sheets-Sheet l March 28, 1939. J. wElNBERGER ,APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING ADDITIONAL DRAFT IN DRAWING FRAMES Filed oci. 25, 1937- 2 sheets-sheet 2 Patented Mar. 28, 1939 PATENT OFFICE APPARATUS Fon PRoDUoING ADDITIONAL DRAFT 1N DRAWING FRAMES Jan Weinberger, Chrastava, Czechoslovakia, as signor of twenty-five per cent to St. George Textile Corporation, New York, N.1Y., a corporation of New York Application October 25, 1937, Serial No. 170,912 In Yugoslavia October 27, 1936 4 Claims.
This invention concerns an apparatus for producing additional draft in drawing frames and consists in thearrangement that the slivers leaving the drawing frame on their way to the known rotary cans are subjected to an additional draft in order to exclude any harmful effects on the sliver arising during its being deposited in the rotary cans, and also the better to prepare such sliver for treatment in the subsequent frame as well as overcoming atmospheric and static contitions.
The foregoing problem set up as the basis of this invention has been solved constructively in the manner that the sliver delivered from the known drawing frame is carried through a special drawing iield which is formed between the pair of delivery rollers of the drawing frame and the pair of drawing rollers lying within reach of the upper plate of the sliver can. By an appropriate selection of the surface speed of the pair of drawing rollers this drawing eld may -be adjusted in agreement with the material worked for various effects of the draft.
'I'he drawings illustrate an apparatus constructed according to the invention, partly broken away and shown in section. Figure l is a top plan view of the apparatus; Figure 2 is a vertical cross-sectional View taken on line 2 2 of Fig. 1; Figure 3 is a vertical cross-sectional view taken on line 3 3 of Figure 1; and Figure 4 is a horizontal sectional view taken online 4 4 of Fig. 3.
The upper rotary plate I2, provided withthe inlet and outlet channel Ill, Il, respectively, for
-l' the sliver I, is rotatably placed in the known manner above the rotary can C and revolved by the toothed ring I3 which is engaged by a spur wheel not shown in the drawings.
Into the upper wall of the stationary case III, surrounding the upper rotary plate I2 is to be set the toothed ring I5 that is retained therein by the screws I6. In the lower side of this case wall there is cut the groove Il having a common axis with the upper plate.
The toothed ring I5 is engaged by the spur wheel I8 fixed on the shaft Isa which carries at its upper end the loose ring I9 guided in the groove Il. The shaft IBa carrying the spur wheel I8 is lodged rotatably in the bearing 29, rigid with the upper rotary plate I2 and carries a toothed bevel wheel 2l engaging the toothed bevel wheel 22. The shaft I8a is supported at its lower end in the bearing 20a.
The shaft 22a supporting the spur wheel 22 is lodged rotatably in the blocks 23 connected with the upperV rotary plate I2 vand carries one drawing roller 24v and at its end' the spur wheel 25. This wheel 25 engages the spur wheel 26 seated firmly on its axle 26a which is, in the cut-outs of the block 23, projected to the influence o-f the springs 21. On the axis of the spur wheel 26 sits the second drawing roller 23. The drawing rollers 24, 28, are cleaned by the cleaning pads 29 which are springwise pressed against them.
As will be seen, itis possible, by an appropriate change of the gear ratio between the toothed ring I5 and the spur wheel I8, to change the surface speed of the drawing rollers and thus to produce the ever needful and desirable additional draft between the delivery rollers and the drawing rollers 24, 28.
While there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as'claimed.
I claim:Y
