Abstract

1324734 Break spinning, spindle drive and brake WILHELM STAHLECKER GmbH 9 Sept 1971 [28 Sept 1970] 42154/71 Heading DID A break spinning rotor shaft I is guided in the cusp between pairs of rollers 4, has an axial thrust bearing at one end and is driven by radially adjustable driving means (belt 3). The rotor is braked by a brake 27 pressing radially against the rotor shaft. As shown, the driving belt 3 is adjusted radially by a pressing roller 19 mounted on a pivoted arm 20. The arm 20 operates the brake upon disengagement of the driving belt. Axial thrust of the shaft I on its end bearing can be produced by tilting the shaft or driving belt, a fan on the shaft, an air cushion device, magnets or by arranging the shaft vertically. Lubrication of the axial thrust bearing can be achieved by periodically reciprocating it through an oil reservoir or by spraying it with oil, Figs. 4 and 7 not shown. The brake 27 may act on tapered sections of the shaft I to press the shaft against the axial thrust bearing. The shaft 1 can be driven by a belt-driven roller (45), Fig. 6 not shown.
