744,226. Mounting bobbins on spindles. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd. Oct. 1, 1954 [Dec. 7, 1953], No. 33957/53. Class 120 (2). In a bobbin clutch for mounting bobbins on spindles in textile spinning &c. machines, one component of the clutch comprises a part of the spindle blade or a member (14) fixed thereon, in the form of a multi-face wedge and another component consists of an assembly of segmental shoes 15 disposed about said wedge, there being one shoe for each face of the wedge and a roller 17 or equivalent located between each face of the wedge and the opposing face of the corresponding shoe, so that rotary movement of the spindle relative to the shoes will cause the rollers or the like to be wedged between said faces and thereby urge the shoes outwardly into driving contact with a package carrier 13 on the spindle. As shown, the member 14 has three equiangularly disposed flat faces 141 and is enclosed by three segmentally shaped shoes 15 the latter being retained in position by a cap 16 having a depending flange 161 and by an upwardly extending flange 143 of the member 14.
