Abstract

On a ring spindle for spinning or twisting yarns, a balloon-reducing ring is mounted to rotate freely by means of a fixed support. Pref. the balloon-reducing ring is supported on a very low friction bearing, such as an air bearing. Because the balloon-reducing ring is free to rotate, the frictional speed of the yarn is reduced, with a consequent reduction in yarn surface temp.
