Abstract
957,735. Gearing for conveying rotary motion. J. P. BEMBERG A.G. March 30, 1961 [April 8, 1960], No. 11722/61. Heading F2Q. [Also in Division D1] In a device for regulating the speed of a first roller through an indirect drive from a second roller, one having a resilient surface and the other having a rigid surface, a fixed bevel wheel on the shaft of the second roller engages a bevel wheel on a shaft pivotable about the shaft of the second roller and which drives a first friction disc which is displaceable and locatable on the pivotable shaft, and which transmits the rotation through a second friction disc to a shaft of the first roller, the second friction disc being displaceable laterally on its shaft and pressed against the first disc by a spring. The device illustrated has a bottom roller 1 driven through gear-wheel 3 and an upper roller 2 with a resilient covering. On the shaft of roller 1 is a fixed bevel wheel 4 which engages a bevel wheel 5 fixed to shaft 6 which is pivotable about the shaft of roller 1. Also fixed to shaft 6 but longitudinally adjustable thereon is a friction wheel 7 which engages a friction wheel 8 mounted for axial displacement but not for rotation on the shaft of roller 2 and spring urged into contact with wheel 7. The arrangement is such that variation of the radius of roller 2 due to its resilient covering varies the point of contact between friction wheels 8 and 7 so that the peripheral speed of the roller 2 at the point of contact remains equal to the peripheral speed of roller 1.
