Abstract
1,274,458. Drawing threads. MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER A.G. 5 Aug., 1969 [8 Aug., 1968], No. 39064/69. Heading DID. The drawing ratio imparted to a thread as it passes through a drawing zone is reduced during the time in which a rejoined thread connection passes through the drawing zone. The thread connection is made upon severing the end of an almost exhausted package feeding a draw-twisting or draw-winding- machine, and joining it to the free end of a new full package. As shown, the drawing ratio between feed rolls 33 and draw rolls 30 is reduced by operating electric disc-clutch 36 so that the gear 34 is connected to drive the feed rolls 33 and rotate them at a faster rate than they are rotated by gear 35. In alternative embodiments; (a) the pressure rolls of the feed mechanism are lifted from the counter roll to reduce the draw ratio to zero, Fig. 4 not shown; (b) the thread passing around the draw rolls is moved onto a low friction part so that the yarn slips thereon, Fig. 5 not shown; (c) the thread connection includes a slip knot which slips in the drawing zone, Fig. 6 not shown; (d) the drive to the feed rolls is disconnected by an electrically operated slip clutch so that the feed rolls are rotated by the thread, Fig. 7 not shown; (e) an electrically operated slip clutch is used to increase the speed of the feed rollers of the second stage of a two stage drawing process, the drawing ratio of the first stage remaining constant, Fig. 8 not shown; (f) in an arrangement similar to that of Fig. 5 also comprising a relaxation zone, the thread is additionally moved onto a low friction part of the relaxation roller, Fig. 9 not shown.
