Abstract

1434484 Yarn guard, delivery spindle EVOLUTION SA 31 Jan 1974 [28 Feb 1973 5 Nov 1973] 04462/74 Heading D1D A twisting device comprises a vertical spindle carrying a package 18 and a concentric rotary cylinder 20 open at the upper end and projecting beyond the package 18, a further concentric stationary cylinder 22 open at its upper end and surrounding the rotary cylinder 20, means for rotating the spindle, the package 18 and the rotary cylinder and thereby generating a vortex of air at the open end of the rotary cylinder and having a velocity decreasing axially away from the package 18. A guide eye 28 is axially spaced from the package 18 at the open end of the cylinders and there is means for drawing yarn from the package 18 into contact with the rotary cylinder 20 and through the guide eye 28 to form a balloon in the space between the package and the rotary cylinder 20 and in the vortex. The open end of the cylinder 20 may be covered by a cap 14 or 14a (Fig. 3 not shown). The cap 14 or 14a may comprise a recess in which the guide eye 28 is housed. The length and/or diameter of the rotary cylinder 20 may be variable at its open end.
