Abstract

1,165,139. Rollers and stop-motions in spinning machines. LEESONA CORPORATION. 21 July, 1966 [24 Oct., 1965], No. 32809/66. Headings DID and D1F. A feed Toll 20 for advancing a yarn under constant, uniform tension and speed, as may be required in supplying yarn Y to a falsetwist crimping machine, is associated with a pinch roll 46 which is pivoted about horizontal and vertical axes and biassed by a spring 45 so that it automatically adjusts, by a dual pivotal movement, to nip, under constant pressure, the yarn traversing across the roll 20. A detector initiates disconnection of the feed rollgear 22 from its driving gear 10 when the yarn is interrupted. Yarn passing over a bail 60 normally prevents clockwise rotation of an adjustably counterweighted, roller-arresting element 52 around a stud 48, supporting a coiled portion 54 thereof. When the yarn breaks or. is exhausted,. the unbalanced weight of element 52 causes it to rotate so that a bent portion 58 engages teeth of gear 10 which thereby rocks arm 16 to an inoperative remote position whereat gears 10 and 22 are held out of meshing engagement and a pin 59 prevents passage of yarn from source between rolls 20 and 46.
