Abstract

1,073,827. Spindle braking. ZINSER-TEXTILMASCHINEN G.m.b.H. May 14, 1965 [May 16, 1964], No. 20606/65. Heading DID. [Also in Division F2] In a spinning or twisting machine means are provided whereby all the spindles may be braked simultaneously or individual spindles may be selectively braked. In Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) each wheel (20) may be individually braked by brake shoes (36) operated by a lever (38) associated with. each spindle but in addition all the levers (38) may be simultaneously operated by a rod (40) running along the spindle rail. In Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) a flexible member (72) having brake linings (275) is surrounded by an air or oil filled bag (86) which may be compressed by a piston (92) to actuate the brake. The pistons may be individually actuated by a push button (104) or collectively by means of pressure fluid from a conduit (100). In Fig. 5 each spindle has two braking devices, the first consisting of a pair of electromagnetically operable brake shoes 122, 122<SP>1</SP> and the second of a manually operable external brake shoe 146. Individual spindle braking may be achieved by the shoe 146 and collective braking is effected through the electromagnetic system. In Figs. 7, 8 and 9 (not shown) a pair of brake shoes (170, 170<SP>1</SP>) on each spindle may be individually operated by a pedal (182) via cable means or all the shoes may be operated by the hydraulically controlled rotation of a common shaft (198), again via cable means. In Fig. 10 (not shown) hydraulically operated brake shoes (232, 2321) may be individually actuated by a push button on a valve (250) or all the brakes may be operated by raising the pressure in the system connecting all the valves. In Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown) circuits are shown whereby electromagnetic or electromagnetically operable spindle brakes may be actuated either individually or in unison. In Fig. 13 (not shown) a hydraulic circuit is shown containing push button valves (348) for individual operation of the hydraulically operable spindle brakes and a electromagnetically operated valve (354) for collective braking.
