Abstract
1,037,578. Winches. G. DUSTERLOH FABRIK FUR BERGWERKSBEDARF G.m.b.H. Oct. 2, 1964 [Nov. 12, 1963], No. 40130/64. Heading B8B. A cable railway winch driven through a planetary gear system, 3<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 1 (not shown), has pneumatically or hydraulically operated driving and retarding brakes 8, 9, Fig. 2, oppositely loaded by mechanical means 19, 20 for reciprocal operation and controlled from a single multiway distributing slide valve 14 with independently adjustable pressure governors 15 in each circuit. The brake 8 for the winch drum 3 is normally loaded by a weight 20 into the engaged position and the brake 9 for the planetary carrier 10 is normally held in the released position by a spring 19. In operation for starting the drive the governors 15 are preset so that the brake 8 is quickly released while the brake 9 is engaged slowly to take up the drive. The slide valve may be operated manually or electromagnetically.
