Abstract

1,200,075. Overhead travelling cranes. J. H. CARRUTHERS & CO. Ltd. 2 Aug., 1968 [9 Aug., 1967; 22 Dec., 1967], Nos. 36481/67 and 58851/67. Heading B8B. In an overhead travelling crane, Fig. 1, comprising a beam 10 supported by carriages 11, 12 and a trolley 13, the winding apparatus 24 for the hoisting rope 14 is mounted on the carriage 11. The trolley is traversed by a motor 30, Fig. 2, mounted on the carriage 12 and the hoist rope 14 is reeved so that when the trolley is traversed the height of the load hook remains constant. The carriages are driven by motors 31 and all the motors are controlled from a panel 32. The trolley runs on the beam 10, Fig. 4, by vertical wheels 19 and horizontal wheels 19A, 20. Fig. 5 (not shown), illustrates a heavy duty trolley in which the wheels 19<SP>1</SP> are in pairs. In a further modification the trolley runs in an inverted U-section beam.
