Abstract

1,175,669. Overhead travelling cranes.. FULLER ELECTRIC Ltd. 5 May, 1967 [6 May, 1966], No. 20033/66. Heading B8B. The transverse runway 5, Fig. 1, of an overhead travelling crane, is flexibly suspended from underhung carriages 6, 7 by shackles and swivels 28. To limit the amount of deviation of the runway from a direction perpendiccular to the supporting rails 3, 4, a switch 45 is provided controlled by a rod 51 attached to the carriage 6. This interupts the flow of power, either electrical or pneumatic, to the motor on the leading carriage until the other catches up. Fig. 3 illustrates the switch 45. A camdisc 48 operates switches 65, 66, is turned by an arm 53 which co-operates with stops 54, 54a, and braked by a brake 55. Excessive swinging of the runway is prevented by rope slings 30, 35, Fig. 2.
