Abstract

1424870 Positioning crane loads KONE OSAKEYHTIO 17 April 1973 18394/73 Heading B8B A container crane comprises a crab (not shown) from which is suspended by hoisting ropes 3 a loading means 2 (seen from above) gripping a container 1. Auxiliary ropes 10, 11, 12, 13 from separate winding drums 14, 15, 16, 17 are attached to the corners of the means 2 and are arranged to cross in pairs at the ends thereof, the separation of the drums 14, 15, 16, 17 being large enough so that all the ropes are inclined both longitudinally and transversely of the means 2. By adjustment of the tension in the auxiliary ropes 14, 15, 16, 17 the position of the container 1 can be adjusted, using an operating lever (24), Fig. 4 (not shown), longitudinally, transversely and rotationally about a vertical axis. Oscillation of the container 1 is inhibited during movement of the crab 5, and after the crab 5 has stopped moving, by maintaining constant tension in the auxiliary ropes 10, 11, 12, 13 by hydrostatic controllers (not shown) and arranging that their drives increase the tension in those auxiliary ropes tending to be drawn off their drums by increase in tension occasioned by pendular motion.
