Abstract
1286829 Self-erecting jib cranes MAGYAR HAJO-ES DARUGYAR 8 Oct 1969 49413/69 Heading B8B A floating crane comprises a bottom jib 1 pivoted at 2 to a slueing frame 3. A tower 9 is connected to the frame 3 by a joint 13 and is stayed by a support 11. A top jib 4 is pivoted, as a two-armed lever, at 5 to the bottom jib 1 and is connected to the tower 9 by a rod 7 pivoted at 8 and 6. The jib 1 is luffed by a mechanism including frame 17 pivoted at 8, rod 14 pivoted at 15 and 16, counterweight swing lever 23 and toothed segment 24 driven by a pinion 25. The crane may be collapsed for travelling by use of its luffing and hoisting mechanisms. The jib 1 is brought to its top working position by luffing and support rod 37 connected to the top jib 4 at 36, Fig. 2 (not shown). Load rope 27 is separated from its hook 31, passed over a pulley 32 at the top of the tower 9 and secured to the bottom jib 1 through rope extension 34 and connection 33. Joint 8 can then be released and the rod 7 lowered on to the bottom jib 1 by a hand winch (not shown). Joint 15 is then released when, by operating the hoisting mechanism, the jib system 1, 4, 7 can be lowered, Fig. 3 (not shown). The tower 9 may now be lowered by bringing the frame 17 into the upper position using the luffing mechanism, releasing the joint 12 and lowering the tower 9 on to the luffing frame 17. Both the tower 9 and the luffing frame 17 can now be lowered into the travelling position using the luffing mechanism (while paying out the load rope 27).
