Abstract

1,070,250. Counterbalancing mobile jib cranes. ARROW MANUFACTURING CO. April 29, 1966 [June 30, 1965], No. 18833/66. Heading B8B. A jib-crane designed to be mounted on a tractor comprises a mounting frame 16, 17, 18, a jib 21, 22 pivoted at 24 to lugs 20 on the member 16 and a counterweight 31 attached to an arm 36 pivoted at 33 to the member 17. A luffing rope 25 passes from an hydraulically operated winch 27 round a pulley 35 on the frame, a pulley 34 on the arm 36, a pulley 26 at the tip of the jib and to an anchorage on the member 18. Thus, when the load being lifted increases, the counterweight is automatically raised by the luffing rope to balance the load. The jib section 22 slides telescopically in the section 21 and is located by a pin 23. The hoisting winch is hydraulically driven from the fluid pressure system of the tractor.
