Abstract
1,040,970. Builders' hoists. F. V. MALMQVIST. Nov. 27, 1963 [Dec. 1, 1962], No. 46864/63. Heading B8H. In a builders' hoist comprising a cage movable along a mast 1, the mast is supported in a horizontal transport position by wheels 6 on a frame 4, pivoted at 7 to the mast and coupled to a winch drum 9 in the base of the mast by a cable 13. In the transport position the shaft 5 supporting the wheels 6 engages a projection 8 on the mast. To raise the mast to an upright position the winch drum 9 is rotated to pull the frame 4 to the full-line position, Fig. 4, in which a hole in the frame 4 engages a stay rod 16 around which a helical spring 17 is provided. The mast then is pushed into its upright position. The reverse procedure is used for lowering the mast, a braking device on the winch drum 9 being operated to allow the cable 13 to run out slowly, thereby controlling the movement of the frame 4 to the chain line transport position, Fig. 4.
