Abstract
748,141. Overhead travelling hoists. BRON, J. May 6, 1953, No. 12613/53. Class 78 (4). The hoist or load pulley 11 of the crane illustrated is moved in one direction along tracks 1 by tilting guides 13 about pivots 13<SP>1</SP> to engage ball bearings 15 on the shaft 10 of the carriage to raise the wheels 9 of the carriage from engagement with the tracks 1. It is moved in the opposite direction by manipulation of the hoist rope 12. The guides 13 are pivoted by operation of a lever 14 which engages a pin 13<SP>2</SP> joining the guides. Abutments 16 at each end of the guides 13 limit the movement of the carriage and counterweighted pawls 17 projecting through the guides 13 serve to hold the carriage captive at the end adjacent the lever 14. The crane is adapted to be mounted in an opening such as a window in a building being erected. Brackets 2 and stays 7, 8 support the guides 1, 13 from an adjustable framing 3, 4, 5 mounted in the opening.
