Abstract
898,187. Tower cranes. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU S. M. KIROW VEB. Sept. 26, 1960, No. 32971/60. Class 78 (4). The control cabin 1 of a rotatable tower crane is movable up and down guide rails within the tower and can be locked at any of a plurality of levels in the tower. As described, the cabin is locked in position by pairs of abutment arms pivotally mounted on either the cabin or the tower which engage abutments on the tower or cabin. The lifting cable 9 may be employed to raise the cabin, the connection being by a cable 5 which passes round pulleys 4, 41. Alternatively, the cable 5 may raise the cabin by being wound on to a drum situated either at the bottom or the top of the tower. In a further embodiment a winch within the cabin raises the cabin by winding in a cable attached to the top of the tower. A safety device similar to those used in lifts is provided beneath the cabin.
