Abstract

1,061,304. Girders for overhead cranes. HARNISCHFEGER CORPORATION. Jan. 21, 1966 [Jan. 22, 1965], No. 2802/66. Heading B8B. [Also in Division E1] The travelling gantry of an overhead crane has side girders which comprise a vertical web with upper and lower flanges and a box-section member 28, Fig. 3 (not shown), which is attached adjacent the top of the girder. Trolley supporting rails 15 are mounted above the vertical webs. The gantry is supported by wheels 8, some of which are driven by assemblies described in Specification 1,061,305. The trolley carries motors for driving it along the rails and for raising the load. The height of the box-section member is about one fifth the height of the vertical web.
