Abstract

1,213,289. Turntables. VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISENUND STAHLWERKE A.G. 8 Dec., 1967 [21 Dec., 1966], No. 56017/67. Heading B7L. [Also in Division B8] In a load transporting plant (see Division B8) a jib crane is supported on rails for movement along a working path having a change in direction at which is provided a turntable for supporting the crane and changing its direction of movement. The turntable comprises a rotatably supported platform 20 driven by a motor 22. The platform 20 carries an upper platform 24 carrying a short length of rail 26 for supporting the crane, the rail 26 being alignable with other support rails extending along the working path. Other rails for lateral support of the crane and a current supply rail are provided for alignment with similar members. Two jib cranes may be provided. A plurality of turntables may be provided at respective changes in direction of the working path, Figs. 3 and 5 (not shown).
