Abstract

614,445. Jib cranes; load-handling machines. BOASE, W. P. May 1, 1946, No. 13109. [Classes 78 (iii) and 78 (iv)] A self-propelled electrically driven truck is provided with a crane with a pivoted jib, and a framework detachably secured to the truck in a vertical position, an elevator structure having load-engaging arms and wheels or like runners for movement on the framework, and means for raising or lowering the elevator on the framework by and under the control of the hoisting mechanism of the crane. Figs. 1, 3 show the application to a truck having a jib 2 which is pivotally mounted at 3 and provided with a lifting cable 6 attached to a winding drum 5. The elevator comprises a pair of arms 21 secured to a pair of plates 19 connected by a channel member 20, and is guided by wheels 24, 25 along rails 10 by a cable 28 connected to the cable 6. The rails 10 are connected together at the top by plates 11 and at the bottom by a girder 12 and are detachably secured on the truck by stays 13 engaging over the ends of the crane pivot 3 and by hook members 18 on the girder 12 engaging over the girder 17 of the truck chassis. The cable 28 passes over pulleys 26, 27 on the jib and channel member 20 respectively, and is anchored at 29 to the plates 11.
