Abstract
844,303. Laying elevated rail tracks; supporting booms for overhead cranes. ALWEGFORSCHUNG G.m.b.H. Nov. 21, 1956 [Nov. 21, 1955], No. 35574/56. Classes 78 (4) and 104 (2). A crane for laying track sections supported wedge-like on piers and having a passageway for the sections to be moved and installed includes an upper chassis for supporting a crane beam or beams and two lower bogies which travel on previously-laid track sections, the upper chassis being supported on the bogies so as to tilt about an axis extending longitudinally of the track. As shown in Fig. 1, two track sections 1a, 1b have already been placed in position on piers 2a and 2b, track section 1c, is in the process of being lowered on to the piers 2b and 2c and the track section 1d is in the position prior to lifting. The crane consists of an upper chassis 6 mounted on two bogies 5a, 5b.. The bogies 5, Fig. 3, run on supporting-wheels 7 and are provided with guide-rollers 8 which engage the sides of the mono-rail track 1. The upper chassis 6 comprises two spaced beams 13 joined by box-shaped cross-members 14, one each end of the bogie 5, and overhanging sections 21 are pivoted at 20 to the front end of each beam 13. The upper chassis 6 can be tilted relative to the bogies 5 by a motor driven worm-gear 17 mounted on the bogie 5 and arranged to travel over a threaded spindle 19 linked to the upper chassis 6. The tilting movement of the chassis 6 relative to the bogies 5 may be automatically controlled by a pendulum weight suspended from the chassis 6 and acting on two limitswitches mounted on the bogie 5. The tilting may be about the centre line 10 of the track 1 or about an axis along the bearing-surface 12 of the piers 2. The chassis 6 is mounted on the bogey 5 through the intermediary of a ball-race to permit tilting. Jack frames 22 or intermediate sections 4 placed in the gap 3 between the ends of the tracks la, 1b, 1c support the crane on the piers 2a, 2b, 2c. The jack frames 22 comprise a cross-beam 22a and two upright members 25 pivotally mounted on the beams 22a and 24 so as to be adjustably tiltable by means of bolts 26. Hydraulic or threaded jacks 27 bear against the upper side of the beam 13 or overhang 21 to lift the crane off the track beam 1b. In the travelling position, Fig. 5, the jack frames 22 are raised above the track 1 and to one side by auxiliary hoists 28 on the beams 13 and cables attached to the members 25 via deflecting pulleys 29. A trolley 30 movably mounted on the beams 13 and overhang 21 is provided at its front and rear ends with cable winches 31 which by means of loose pulleys 32 engaging a transverse beam 33 passed under the track sections 1 lift the track sections into position. The overhang 21 may terminate as a cantilever 35, Fig. 1, in which case two hookmembers 36 arranged on the carriage 5a on each side of the track 1b are movable into position to engage the underside of the track section 1b, Fig. 6, by cranks 37 through a parallel link movement to prevent tilting of the crane when lowering a track section 1c into position.
