Abstract

711,961. Fork lift trucks; vehicle fittings for loading; jib cranes. RANSOMES & RAPIER, Ltd. Feb. 29, 1952 [March 2, 1951] No. 5171/51. Classes 78 (3) and 78 (4) A fork lift truck has a crane jit 56 pivoted at 54 to the upper telescopic guide (not shown) and anchored to the chassis by a link 60, so that lifting the guide by the conventiona hydraulic ram and pulley mechanism (not shown) effects luffing movement of the jib. A hoisting cable 7( normally passes over the selectee pulley 78 and a pulley 80, and is anchored to a winch drum 82 which is secured to the fixed guides 10 and which is used to adjust the initial height of the hook 74; but when it is desired to use the hook 7: or the lifting forks 28, alone, the inner end of the cable is removed from the drum, is trained over guides 88, 90 and is engaged with one of hooks 92. When it is desired to remove the jib from the truck the upper truck guide is extended, an eye plate 94 is engaged with a fixed hook (not shown), connections 64, 96 are broken and the guide is lowered free of the jib. The fork 38 is pivotally mounted on the carriage 30 about an axis 36 so that it can be moved to the stowed position shown in full line. and the whole guide structure is movable about a horizontal axis by a thrustor 14 which rocks a shaft 16 connected to the structure by cranks 18 and links 20.
