Abstract

1,130,242. Jib cranes. L. R. ANDERSSON. 10 March, 1967 [11 March, 1966], No. 11467/67. Heading B8B. A mobile crane comprises a chassis 10, Fig. 1, on which a boom support 11 is mounted for rotation about a vertical axis 12, the support having a counterweight 13, a hoist winch and a boom winch and carrying a boom 14 which is movable to a substantially horizontal transport position as shown in Fig. 1, in which position the boom is longitudinally slideably supported on the support 11. The boom 14 is telescopically extensible and is slideably supported in a sleeve 15 which is pivoted to the support 11 on a horizontal axis 16 and is connected to one or more mechanical or hydraulic struts 17. A front support 18 may be provided for further supporting the boom 14. The latter is releasably locked to the sleeve 15 in both its working and transport positions by locking means such as a pin 19. When the boom is to be moved to its working position pivotable ground-engaging jacks 20; 21 are swung out and adjusted. The pin 19 is then disengaged and the boom 14 is displaced forwardly by the hoist winch, the hoist cable 22 being temporarily led round an idler pulley 23. The pin 19 is then used to lock the boom 14 in its working position and the latter is raised by the boom winch, the cable 24 of which. is attached to a rear stay cable 25; Fig. 4. In a second embodiment, Figs. 2a, 2b (not shown), a jib is releasably connected to the boom 14 so that the jib can be moved with the boom. The jib is then pivotally or fixedly connected to the free end of the boom. The sleeve 15 may be formed as a framework. The boom 14 may be pivotally connected by pins to the support 11, the pins being: adapted to engage guides on the support 11 for guiding the boom. during its sliding movement. Or the boom and the boom support may have interengaging guides for guiding the boom.
