[Also in Division C7] A grease-free surface of Fe, Zn or Al is etched in an aqueous solution of 0.2 to 3 g/l of chromic acid and 0.5 to 5.0 g/l of hydrofluoric acid and then chromated in an aqueous solution containing hexavalent chromium which may be in the form of chromic acid or Zn, Ca, Al or Cr chromates. The sheets may be subsequently coated with acrylate storing lacquers.
