Abstract
1,154,485. Texturing yarn. ZWIRNEREI UND NAHFADENFABRIK GOGGINGEN WERK DER AACKERMANN GOGGINGEN A.G. 28 June, 1966 [9 July, 1965], No. 29018/66. Heading D1F. A process for producing textured yarn comprises taking an initial yarn having at least two twisted and fixed threads, one of the threads being, an auxiliary disposable thread and destroying the auxiliary thread whilst the threads are in their twisted and fixed condition. The threads in the initial yarn may have the same uniform twist or the non- auxiliary threads or threads may be twisted about the disposable thread; the non-auxiliary yarns may be twisted about the auxiliary yarns in opposed helical windings. The disposable thread may be removed by mechanical means e.g. by passing the thread between a pair of meshing cog wheels (see Fig. 8 not shown) so that the auxiliary thread which in this case is weak and brittle is shredded. Alternatively the auxiliary thread is removed by chemical means, see Figs. 6 and 7 not shown. The non-auxiliary threads may be of natural fibres e.g. cotton fixed by synthetic resin, flax, linen, wool or mineral substances. The auxiliary thread may comprise cellulosic, rayon fibres, alginates, polyvinylalcohols, acetates or other cellulose derivatives or polyamides. The auxiliary thread may not be removed until the initial yarn has been made up into a textile piece. Two examples with numerical data are given illustrating the removal of the auxiliary thread by chemical means.
