Abstract

1379468 Three component fancy yarns FILATURE DE SAINT ANDRE 31 July 1972 [31 Aug 1971] 35652/72 Headings D1F and D1W A method of producing a fancy yarn 6 comprises feeding into the inlet of a hollow rotary spindle 1 at least three textile components, i.e. a foundation component 2, a covering component 3 and a binding component 4 which is delivered from a bobbin 11 carried by and rotating with the spindle 1. The fancy yarn 6 being pulled by a pair of take-up rollers 7, 8 and the covering component 3 being delivered at a linear speed which is higher than the speed of take-up of the foundation component 2 as this component 2 is pulled by the fancy yarn 6 which is passed through the spindle 1. A plurality of foundation components and/or a plurality of covering components may be used. Suitable examples of foundation and/or covering components are threads, drafted ribbons, slubbing from a spinning card, any combing- tion of such components or a fancy yarn as produced by the process above. The feed speed of the foundation component and/or the covering component may be varied during the process to produce a loop or knop yarn. During the. operation, the foundation component becomes false twisted upstream of the spindle, the covering component gets twisted around the foundation component and the binding component holds the assembly by being wound helically thereabout. The twist is removed during passage through the spindle and the covering component loosens about the foundation component, the amount of bulk produced depending on the difference in feed speeds between the foundation component and the covering component.
