Abstract

1,055,419. Elastic yarns. HALE MANUFACTURING CO. Dec. 11, 1964 [Dec. 11. 1963], No. 50598/64. Headings DID, D1F and D1W. An elastic yarn has a mono- or multifilament elastomeric core around which one or more non-elastomeric fibre slubbings are wrapped, the fibres being substantially non- parallel and crossing one another in a haphazard arrangement. As described a yarn 2 of natural or synthetic rubber, or of spandex, and a slubbing 6 of cotton, wool, rayon, cellulose acetate, nylon, acrylic fibres, or polyester, and prepared on the woollen system are fed to a drafing zone A where the roving is drafted 1.1-2 times and the elastomeric yarn is elongated a corresponding amount. The yarn and slubbing are false twisted in zone A by tube 11.
