Abstract

A yarn comprises non-elastomeric staple fibres, and elastomeric fibres stapled by a stretching breaking process. As described a preferably potentially shrinkable, polyesterurethane, elastomeric filament yarn was combined with a roving at the front rollers of a roving frame to form a composite roving. Four such rovings were spun on a cotton or worsted spinning frame using a draft sufficient to stretch break the elastomeric filaments. The non-elastomeric fibres may be polyamide, polyester, polyolefin, glass, cotton or wool fibres and may have been crimped by an edge, false-twist, or stuffer box crimping process.
