Abstract

107,290. Stratton, F. F. Aug. 18, 1916. Addition to 100,924. Spray carburettors.-The parent Specification describes a carburettor having a pilot nozzle surrounded by main nozzles, the main nozzles being brought into action in succession by caps carried by a suction-actuated valve which also controls air inlets for each nozzle, hot air being supplied through a pipe fitted to the side of the carburettor casing. The invention consists in providing two fuel supplies, a light fuel for the pilot nozzle, and a heavy fuel for the main nozzles, and in fitting the air inlet pipe to the bottom of the carburettor by a swivel joint. Two float chambers are provided, one for the light fuel supplying the pilot nozzle L through a conduit W<1>, the other supplying heavy fuel to the main nozzles I<1>, K<1> &c. through a conduit which is bifurcated at F<2>, F<3>. The air-inlet pipe A is provided with a flange A<3> which is supported loosely by a flange A<1>. Air enters the chamber B through arc-shaped ports A<4>, A<5>. The effective length of the caps may be adjusted by providing each with three pin-holes S.
