Abstract

1,064,208. Caps for bottles &c. ANCHOR HOCKING GLASS CORPORATION. Oct. 14, 1964 [Oct. 14, 1964], No. 41946/64. Heading B8T. A closure cap comprises a skirt portion (3), Figs. 1, 9 (not shown), with spaced integral lugs (8) extending inwardly from the skirt and with heads (7) between the lugs, the flattened-out length of each lug being greater than the flattened-out width of each head. The cap, made from a hexagonally-shaped blank with sides (13) and apexes (14), is formed with an annular depression (4) to provide a channel (5) for an annular gasket (6) and with a skirt portion (3), the apexes being coaxed inwardly to form the lugs (8) with inward facing walls (9) and curved holding portions (10), the sides (13) being shaped to provide the heads (7) along the edge of the skirt. The cap is pressed over a container (20) until the holding portion snaps under a holding head (22) on the container and the gasket (6) presses on the container rim (21). A further embodiment shows a cap of rectangular configuration, having a similarly-shaped gasket (55), Fig. 10 (not shown).
