Abstract

1,089,080. Caps for bottles &c. CONTINENTAL CAN CO. Inc. Oct. 3, 1966 [Oct. 23, 1965], No. 44112/66. Heading B8T. [Also in Division B5] A cap for a bottle &c. has a gasket 21 of plastics moulded around the periphery of its top panel adjacent its skirt 20, the radially inner edge of the gasket having a thin portion 33 terminating in a bead 30. The cap skirt 20 has a rolled edge (13), Fig. 1 (not shown), which may be formed with recesses (14) to engage with lugs, screw-threads &c. on a bottle &c. neck. A recess 15 around the top panel facilitates stacking of one bottle &c. upon another. A punch for moulding the gasket 21 in situ is described (see Divisions B4-B5).
