Abstract

1,015,854. Container closures. CONTINENTAL CAN CO. Inc. April 23, 1964 [Sept. 25, 1963], No. 16930/64. Heading B8T. A plastics closure cap 16 is held in sealing contact with the plastics neck of a container by an annular rib 20 engaging below a deformable bead 10. Tight sealing contact is provided between the neck flange 8 and the cap; the bead and the cap skirt; and the rib and container. The cap may have sifter openings and may have concentric grooves to which sealing compound is applied in that part of its surface engaging the neck flange; it may include an annulus depending from its top surface which spans below the flange. In another embodiment, Fig. 8 (not shown) the width of the flange is increased and has spaced perforations 44 which may be brought into engagement with corresponding perforations in the cap. In modifications, Figs. 13, 15 (not shown), in which the flange is omitted an annular rib depending from the cap abuts the top of the neck, or is extended to lock below the upstanding neck.
