Abstract

1387104 Safety closures KERR GLASS MFG CORP 17 Jan 1973 [4 Feb 1972] 2474/73 Heading B8T A safety closure formed by inner and outer caps 14, 12 respectively has a ratchet teeth 19, 20 which enable the closure to be applied to a container, e.g. by means of a screw-thread 18, but the closure can only be removed if pressure is applied to the top of the outer cap 12 to flex resilient ring segments 43 and enable teeth 31 to engage between teeth 35 on the inner cap so that the inner and outer caps may be twisted off together. Areas (74), Fig. 1 (not shown), on the outer cap are of reduced thickners to enable ratchet teeth 20 to flex radially outwards and prevent friction against ratchet teeth 19 which would allow the inner cap to be turned to remove it. The caps may be of plastics material.
