Abstract

1365746 Safety closures ANCHOR HOCKING CORP 27 June 1972 [8 July 1971] 30000/72 Heading B8T A safety closure has a locking ring 12 held on the neck of a bottle 18 and a screw cap 14 with ratchet teeth 44 on its skirt which, as the cap is screwed down, ride over a tooth 36 on the ring. To release the cap, a lug 52 of a tab 30 on an extension 28 of the ring is pressed down, so releasing the tooth 36 from the cap teeth 44. The ring is held axially on the bottle neck by an annular bead on the neck and radially by serrations 24 on the ring which engage corresponding serrations 26 on the neck. The closure may be made tamperproof by strips (64), Fig. 12 (not shown), joining the release tab (54) to adjacent parts of the extension (62) of the locking ring.
