Abstract

1,211,501. Tamperproof caps. TAMPER PROOF TOPS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 March, 1969 [23 March, 1968], No. 12522/69. Heading B8T. A resilient tamper-proof cap has a skirt 10 with an internal annular bead 16 at its free end which engages a groove in the neck of the container, and a ring 34 joined to the skirt 10 by an integral hinge 36 and at least one integral frangible portion 38. The shoulder 22 defining the lower wall of the groove in the bottle neck extends beyond the annular skirt and so prevents the cap being removed manually by prising the rim. The cap is opened by breaking the portions 38 to release the ring 34 which can be hinged away from the skirt and used as a pull-ring to raise the cap. An annular ridge 29 depends from the inside of the cap top 24 and seals against the inside of the rim 30. The ridge 29 and the skirt 14 define a groove 28 so that an annular space remains, to aid in vacuum sealing, when the rim 30 is seated.
