Abstract

1295207 Resilient safety cap DIAMOND INTERNATIONAL CORP 17 Sept 1971 [8 Oct 1970] 43513/71 Heading B8T A safety cap 20 is secured to a container body 10 by passing a lug 26 through a gap 18 in a locking rib 16 and forcing a cap rib 28 over a cam surface 16<SP>1</SP> of the rib 16 and thereby engaging rib 28 under rib 16. The cap is removed by rotating cap 20 until lug 26 is coincident with gap 18, the tab 30 is thus forced upwards, lifting lug 26 through gap 18 and rib 28 over rib 16. The rib 28 consists of several portions of decreasing radial widths Fig. 2 (not shown). A web 32 and a triangle 34 aid the positioning of the lug 26 in gap 18. A holding surface is provided in the cap for engaging surface 1611. The cap provides a seal against the neck of the body 10 regardless of how it is oriented.
