Abstract

1483790 Safety vial and cap D R ROBBINS and S B ROBBINS 8 Nov 1974 [8 Nov 1973] 48457/74 Heading B8T A rim projecting inwardly around a container opening is provided either by a member 17 comprising an inner rim 21 and an outer rim 19 which define a groove 25 in which the top 13 of a plastics container 11 is received and secured, or by forming an inner rim 21 integrally with the container, and a plug portion 35 of a resilient plastics cap 31 snap fits within the inner rim 21 to close the container with tabs 37, 39 on the cap engaging beneath the rim 21 such that the tab 37 must be aligned with a gap 27 in the rim before the cap can be removed. A locating tab on the cap top 33 and a mark on the member 17 aid the alignment of the tab 37 and gap 27. The tabs 37, 39 are tapered towards their bottoms and the tab 39 is too large to pass through the gap 27.
