Abstract

1,239,501. Tamper-proof closures. STERLING SEAL CO. 11 Feb., 1969 [12 Feb., 1968], No. 7377/69. Heading B8T. A cap 10 suitable for aerosol cans and the like comprises a shoulder which overlies a rim 19 of a can 20, the bottom edge of a cylindrical part 17 of the shoulder being spun inwards to form a curled portion 18 which may be resiliently distorted and underlies the lower face of the rim 19, and a tear strip 535, provided by a scored line 536 formed in a cylindrical body 11, an annular portion 15, and the cylindrical part 17 of the shoulder. The strip 535 must be torn out in order to remove the cap 10 and hence renders the cap tamper-proof. In other embodiments, the lower end of the cylindrical portion of the shoulder may be bent inwardly and cut away at intervals to form tongues (118), Fig. 2 (not shown), a flange (218) hooked-shaped in cross-section, Fig. 3 (not shown), or bent downwardly and inwardly at (318), Fig. 4 (not shown).
