Abstract

1,040,867. Closure caps. AMERICAN CAN CO. Aug. 3, 1965, No. 33070/65. Heading B8T. A metallic closure cap for a lipped container, comprising a crown 12 and depending skirt 14, has a removable portion 20 defined by a pair of score lines 16, 18 extending from the skirt across the crown, a pull tab 22 being formed integrally with the removable portion. On applying the cap, which is provided with a sealing insert 28 (Fig. 2, not shown), the skirt 14 engages the lip 36 (Fig. 4, not shown) of the container, one or more notches 30, 32 being provided on the skirt so as to prevent fracturing of the score lines or interference between the pull tab and the adjacent portions of the skirt, during application of the cap. The notches 30, 32 may be as shown, or elsewhere on the skirt.
