Abstract

1312206 Pilfer-proof closures EMBALLAGES COURONNE SA CROWN CORK CO (FRANCE) 19 April 1971 [5 Feb 1970] 20192/71 Heading B8T A metal pilfer-proof closure has an antitamper band 2 separated from the skirt 12 by a number of bridging portions 4. In addition, the band 2 has a zone of weakness 6 diametrically opposite a bridging portion 5 more resistant than the portions 4 so that as the cap is unscrewed, the portions 4 break first of all, followed by bridging portions 7, 8 in the zone of weakness 6 and thus the cap is removed without leaving the band 2 on the bottle. In modification the bridging portion 5 is replaced by two strengthened portions (Fig. 6, not shown), the bridging portions 9, 10 may be weaker than the rest of the bridging portions 4, or the portion (19), (Fig. 7, not shown), may be stronger than the bridging portions 4. In addition the zone of weakness 6 may be parallel to the axis of the stopper, and comprise a thinning down of metal rather than a slot.
