Abstract

1444302 Screw cap with loss prevention SOMEPLA S A 2 July 1974 [2 July 1973] 29239/74 Heading B8T A screw cap comprises a collar portion 2 which engages below an external shoulder of the neck of a bottle 1 and thus cannot be removed from the neck, an upper portion 4 which is adapted to co-operate with a threaded section of the neck, and a tag member 3 which is permanently joined to the collar portion and the upper portion at the non-perforated sections 7 and 8 respectively, and removably joined by the perforations 7 and 10 respectively. The ends of the tag member 3 face one another across the gap 12. When the upper portion 4 is unscrewed, thus opening the bottle, the tag member tears along the perforations but the upper portion remains coupled to the bottle neck by the tag member and collar portion. The cap also has external grooving 11 on the upper portion 4 and preferably an internal sealing skirt which cooperates sealingly with the inner surface of the bottle neck if the external diameter of the skirt is greater than the internal diameter of the neck. The lower ends of the skirt are bevelled and of reduced thickness to facilitate introduction of the skirt inside the neck.
