Abstract
103,585. Phelps, C. May 5, 1916. Two-stroke-cycle engines.-In engines of the kind in which the shaft is stationary, and radial cylinders revolve in connexion with a common crank case, the cylinders are provided with abutments and reciprocatory pistons, intake valves being mounted in these abutments. Each piston head 6 works between the cylinder head and abutment 10 to form a suction and compression chamber at the inside of the piston head and a compression and combustion chamber at the outside, and each cylinder is formed with a by-pass 16 to co-operate with a port 15 in the piston. The abutments 10 are kept in place by braces 28 and are provided with valves 17, through which mixture passes from the crank chamber into the piston.
