Un procedimiento para la preparación de tienamicina de fórmula: **(Fórmula-01)** y sus sales y ésteres farmacéuticamente aceptables, cuyo procedimiento comprende, a) someter a reacción de activación un compuesto de fórmula: **(Fórmula-02)** por tratamiento de este último con un agente activante para formar un compuesto de fórmula: **(Fórmula-03)** b) hacer reaccionar el compuesto procedente de la etapa a) con HS - NHR1, donde R es un grupo protector, X es un grupo saliente y R1 es hidrógeno o un grupo protector.
