Se describen negros de humo modificados, tal como negro de hules, que tienen una concentración de PAH baja. El negro de humo CB-2, como se muestra en la Tabla 4 y Tabla 5 a continuación, luego se trató para unir/adsorber un grupo químico, como se describe en el Ejemplo 2 para obtener CB-3, o como se describe en el Ejemplo 3 para obtener CB-4.
