Definitions

  • the invention relates to an arrangement for equipping connector housings with assembled cable ends of cables according to the preamble of claim 1. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for equipping connector housings.
  • Such an arrangement has a housing receptacle in which one or more connector housings can or can be temporarily accommodated for fitting.
  • the assembly takes place by means of an assembly unit with which the cable ends can be inserted into cells of the connector housing to be assembled.
  • Such assembly arrangements are often downstream of the assembly lines.
  • a assembly system can include a stripping station for cutting and stripping the electrical cables, one or more crimping stations for applying crimp contacts to the stripped cable ends and, if necessary, grommet stations.
  • the assembly arrangement could also be part of a packaging system.
  • FIG EP 1 304 773 A1 An arrangement for equipping connector housings with prefabricated cable ends of a cable is, for example, from FIG EP 1 304 773 A1 known.
  • the connector housings are temporarily accommodated in a housing receptacle consisting of a carrier plate and housing holder for the assembly.
  • the arrangement comprises an assembly unit with a cable gripper, with which the cable ends can be inserted into cells of connector housings.
  • cable ends of the cable loops cannot be inserted immediately into the cell provided in the connector housing;
  • the cable sections adjoining these cable ends in a rotatable cable storage device are then temporarily stored. This interim storage is carried out until the respective interim stored cable end can be used for the assembly according to the assembly sequence according to the cable plan. Due to its high level of complexity, the arrangement and the process is complex and places high demands on control technology. In this assembly arrangement, only cable loops with assembled cable ends can be processed. The arrangement is therefore not suitable for cables that are only to be fitted with connector housings on one side.
  • US 6,038,763 relates to a terminal device for machined wires that inserts wires into terminal holes provided on terminals.
  • the arrangement for equipping connector housings with prefabricated cable ends of cables by means of an equipping unit with which the cable ends can be inserted into cells of the connector housing comprises a housing receiving device for temporarily accommodating connector housings for the equipping.
  • temporarily means that the connector housings only remain on the housing receptacle for the comparatively short period of assembly. After that, i.e. after completion of the assembly process, the connector housings are removed from the housing receptacle and used for further use.
  • a cable storage means a means of securing and organizing the cables.
  • the arrangement is particularly suitable for cables or pieces of cable which are only to be fitted on one side or in which only one cable end is to be fitted with a plug housing.
  • a holding arm, on which the cable storage device is arranged, can connect to the housing receiving device.
  • the cable storage device can preferably be arranged in the region of the free end of the holding arm.
  • the holding arm can, for example, be fastened to a carrier plate of the housing receiving device by means of a screw connection or other fastening means.
  • housing receiving device has a carrier plate, it can be particularly advantageous if the holding arm is aligned at right angles to the upper side of the carrier plate.
  • Housing receiving devices with carrier plates are also known and familiar to the person skilled in the art under the name “housing pallet” or also abbreviated “pallet”.
  • the cable storage device is releasably connectable to the housing receiving device or releasably connected to the housing receiving device during the assembly process. This can ensure that after the completion of the assembly process, the cable storage can be easily removed from the housing receptacle together with the fully equipped connector housing and the associated cables.
  • the assembly arrangement can be operated particularly simply if the cable storage device can be attached to the housing receiving device and / or can be removed from the housing receiving device only by moving the cable storage device relative to the housing receiving device.
  • the attachment and removal can be done without tools. Thanks to such a configuration, the attachment and removal in relation to the cable storage can be carried out mechanically and automatically.
  • the housing receiving device can have an insertion opening, into which a foot section of the cable storage device can be inserted in order to create it.
  • the foot section can be designed to be complementary to the insertion opening, as a result of which an advantageous positive connection between the housing receiving device and the cable storage device can be created.
  • the plug connection described other types of connection are also conceivable.
  • the cable storage device can be connected to the housing receiving device magnetically, for example with the aid of permanent magnets or activatable electromagnets.
  • the arrangement can further comprise securing means for securely fixing the cable storage device inserted into the insertion opening of the housing receiving device.
  • securing means prevent inadvertent removal of the inserted cable storage from the housing receptacle.
  • an "overhead" mode of operation is also possible with the arrangement.
  • the cable storage can thus be temporarily arranged in the arrangement; that the cable storage is located below the holding arm and the cables are placed in the cable storage from below in a vertical movement upwards.
  • the securing means can have a spring-loaded latch and a Corresponding recess in which the locking lug engages when the cable storage device is inserted.
  • the locking lug can be arranged in the insertion opening and the recess in the insertion opening; of course, a reverse assignment regarding latch and recess would also be conceivable.
  • a single-row connector housing can be accommodated in the housing receptacle device in such a way that the cells of the connector housing are arranged in a preferably vertical or horizontal row.
  • the cable storage and a housing holder for holding the connector housing lie essentially on a common, preferably vertical or horizontal, plane.
  • the cable storage device and the housing holder mentioned can be positioned and aligned relative to one another during assembly such that a cable gripper of the assembly unit only has to be moved two-dimensionally both for storing the cable in the cable storage device and for subsequently inserting the cable end into the respective cell of the connector housing. In this way, the arrangement can be operated particularly efficiently.
  • the cable storage device can be guided back and forth along the longitudinal direction of the cable and in particular to the opposite, not yet equipped cable ends.
  • the cable storage device has a slot-shaped cable receiving area.
  • the cable receiving area can be dimensioned in such a way that a plurality of cables in a row lying one above the other can be received or arranged in this cable receiving area. In this way, the cables can be arranged and secured particularly well. The sequence of the cables stored in the cable storage is retained thanks to the cable receiving area designed in this way, which means that the cable ends opposite in relation to the connector housing can be used without time-consuming reorganization.
  • the slot-shaped cable receiving area can have a slot width that corresponds at least to the diameter of the cables.
  • the cable storage device can comprise, for example, two side elements spaced apart from one another, the cable receiving area being arranged between the two side elements.
  • the side elements are preferably arranged parallel to one another in the cable storage.
  • the distance between the side elements thus corresponds to the called slot width.
  • the maximum width of the slot of the cable receiving area should preferably be less than twice the cable diameter.
  • a slot width that is 1.2 to 1.5 times the cable diameter is advantageously chosen.
  • the cable storage device can be designed in such a way that the slot width can be adjusted to match different cables.
  • the cable receiving area of the cable storage device can have a blocking element on the input side, which prevents cables that have already been placed in the cable storage device from leaving the cable receiving area.
  • a pawl can be provided which closes the cable receiving area in a rest position. During the laying process, the pawl can be pushed away from the cable to release the cable receiving area. In other words, the cable receiving area can be unlocked automatically in a passive manner when the cables are laid down.
  • the pawl can for example be arranged on a lever part.
  • the lever part can be pivoted about an axis on a side element of the cable storage.
  • the lever part can be supported to shut off or close the cable receiving area in the rest position of the lever part by means of a spring element for generating a pretensioning force against the aforementioned side element.
  • a further aspect of the invention relates to a method for equipping connector housings with assembled cable ends of cables, the assembly arrangement described above being used for the method.
  • the method according to the invention comprises the following steps: The cable ends of cables are inserted into cells of a connector housing by means of an assembly unit, the connector housing being accommodated in the housing receiving device.
  • the cables are previously stored in the cable storage, the cable storage being accommodated in the housing receiving device.
  • the placement can preferably take place immediately before the aforementioned step of inserting the cable ends into the connector housing.
  • the cables are thus stored in the cable storage during the feeding process, in which the cable ends are led to the respective cells of the connector housing.
  • the cables can be placed in a cable receiving area of the cable storage device in such a way that the deposited cables are arranged in a row one above the other in the cable receiving area.
  • the cable store filled with the cables is removed from the housing receptacle together with the completely fitted connector housing.
  • the removal can be done manually.
  • the cables with the cable storage device and the plug housing are removed from the housing receiving device and brought to a desired location by means of a transfer device.
  • Figure 1 shows an overall designated 1 arrangement for equipping connector housings with assembled cable ends of cables.
  • This assembly arrangement 1 has an assembly unit 2 with which cable ends 9 can be inserted into cells 26, 27 of the connector housing 6.
  • the connector housing 6 is in Figure 1 designed as an example in two rows.
  • the cells denoted by 26 are arranged in a first vertical cell row and the cells 27 in a second vertical cell row.
  • the arrangement 1 can of course also be used to equip other connector housings, in particular single-row or multi-row connector housings.
  • the cable 5 has a crimp contact at the cable end 9. The crimp contact was previously applied to a stripped cable end in a crimp station (not shown).
  • a cable gripper 8 of the assembly unit 2 grips the cable 5 just behind the crimp contact at the cable end 9.
  • the cable gripper 8 could be moved against the plug housing to insert the cable end 9 into the cell 26, 27 of the connector housing 6.
  • Combined movements of cable gripper 8 and housing receiving device 3 (cf. Figures 5a-c, 6a-c ).
  • the arrangement 1 comprises a housing receiving device 3 for temporarily receiving connector housings for the assembly. This special cable storage is below in the Figures 2 to 4 shown and is explained in detail below.
  • Figure 2 shows the housing receiving device 3, a Cartesian coordinate system with x, y and z axes being shown for better understanding of the position, orientations and movement sequences.
  • the connector housing 6 is already fully assembled.
  • the cables 5 inserted into the connector housing 6 are evidently held together by a cable storage 4, which organizes and secures the cables 5.
